Reviews
'“For years, the Portland eye care community has dealt with a shortfall of optical training and
management programs. And post-pandemic, there is a definite vacuum of talent in the
opticianry field, so optometrists like myself are relying on online programs or a few sporadic
conferences to train those team members who are new to the field. I was excited to hear that
Heather created programs to fill this void. I can’t say enough about how much I appreciate her
talent and expertise! During her customer service presentation she was able to relate to my
opticians’ experiences and present new options in a way only a fellow optician could. She also
spent a day in both of my clinics, doing hands-on training with the opticians. During this process,
she was able to pinpoint inefficiencies in our office work flow, presentation and communication
with patients, and even billing and coding. She even gave me and the other doctors suggestions
for how we can better communicate lens options and technologies to patients. In the long run,
this will make the patient experience in our office even better than it already is, as well as
improve our bottom line.”

History
Very early on in her career, Heather Branderhorst loved to teach the art of opticianry and saw that there is a huge need in the industry for mentoring and training of newer opticians. Heather began to explore what she can do to make a bigger impact on better patient care in our industry. With the help and support of her peers, she conceptualized the idea of starting a business where she can do both consulting and training to improve over all patient care in every office. Knowing that she had the industry know how, but lacking the experience in starting and managing a business, she began working with Mercedes Dunaway to turn this idea into a reality
What sets Calibrate Optics apart from competitors is that we are not tied to or representing any company. We are 100% here for the success of the practice and do not have an agenda of increasing sales of a product.
